Key Victron Components
RV and overland systems deal with multiple charging sources — solar, shore power, generator, and alternator. Victron’s product lineup is purpose-built to manage all of them from a single dashboard.
Inverter / Charger
Inverts battery power to AC and charges from shore power automatically. Built-in transfer switch — no separate relay needed. Handles both simultaneously via PowerAssist.
Quattro — Dual AC Input
Same as MultiPlus but with two AC inputs. Accepts shore power on Input 1 and generator on Input 2 — automatically prioritizes and switches. Essential for full-timers with a generator.
MPPT Solar Charge Controller
Handles large solar arrays (up to 1450W on a 24V system with the 150/100). Bluetooth-enabled, VE.Direct for Cerbo GX integration, automatic voltage detection.
DC-DC Alternator Charger
For travel trailers and fifth wheels, charges the house battery from the tow vehicle while driving. Galvanically isolated — protects both vehicles’ electrical systems.
System Hub + Remote Monitoring
Connects all Victron devices over VE.Direct and VE.Bus. Control your system, trigger generator auto-start, and monitor from anywhere via the free VRM app.
LiFePO4 Battery Bank
We recommend quality LiFePO4 with a proper BMS. 24V systems halve the current (and wire costs) for larger rigs. Pair with Victron Smart Lithium or Battle Born / Epoch cells.

🔁 Choose Quattro If You Have a Generator
The Quattro has two AC inputs — shore power and generator — and automatically selects the right source. The MultiPlus only has one AC input, requiring a manual or automatic transfer switch. For any rig with a built-in or portable generator, Quattro is the right choice.
⚡ Consider 24V for Larger Rigs
A 24V system halves the current compared to 12V for the same power. This means you can use smaller (cheaper) wire, smaller fuses, and reduce voltage drop over long runs. Any rig with 400Ah+ of battery or 600W+ of solar should seriously consider 24V.
🚗 DC-DC Charger for Tow Vehicles
Modern F-250, Ram 3500, and Silverado HD trucks have smart alternators that reduce output when the battery is topped off. A Victron Orion-Tr Smart correctly charges your fifth wheel or trailer’s house bank from the tow vehicle, even with a smart alternator.
📡 Set Up Generator Auto-Start
The Cerbo GX has a built-in relay that can trigger a generator’s auto-start input. Configure a battery voltage threshold (e.g., start at 48V / 23V, stop at 54V / 27V) and the system manages the generator automatically — no manual starting needed at 2am.
☀️ Tiltable Solar Mounts Pay Off
A flat roof panel produces 30–40% less power than one tilted toward the sun. For overland and stationary camping scenarios, adjustable tilt mounts (10–45°) significantly boost daily harvest — especially in winter or at lower latitudes.
🔋 Right-Size Shore Power Charging
The MultiPlus/Quattro’s AC input current limit is adjustable via the Cerbo GX. Set it below the campsite’s breaker rating to avoid tripping it. 30A shore power = 3600W max — your charger should be set to use no more than 80% of that.
