Frequently Asked Questions

Choosing & Sizing Equipment
How do I know what size MPPT charge controller or inverter I need?
Sizing depends on your panel wattage, battery bank voltage and capacity, and your peak AC load. As a starting rule of thumb, size your Victron MPPT charge controller for at least 1.2x your array's rated output in amps, and size your inverter to comfortably cover your highest simultaneous load with headroom for surge/startup current. Email us your panel wattage, battery bank size, and the appliances you plan to run, and we'll confirm the right model before you order — this is one of the most common questions we help customers solve.
Can Victron components from different product lines work together?
Yes. Victron's ecosystem is designed to interconnect: MPPT charge controllers, MultiPlus/Quattro inverters, Lynx distributors, Smart Shunts, and battery monitors all communicate over VE.Direct or VE.Bus, and can be tied into a single Cerbo/Color Control display for one view of the whole system. If you're combining equipment from different generations or with a non-Victron battery (e.g. a third-party LiFePO4 pack), tell us your full parts list before ordering — mismatched communication protocols are the most common integration issue we troubleshoot, and it's much easier to fix before installation than after.
Are your Victron products genuine and covered by manufacturer warranty?
Yes. We sell genuine, new Victron Energy products, and everything we carry is covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty. If you ever suspect a defect, contact us first — we can usually diagnose the issue and start a warranty claim without you needing to ship the unit back to Victron directly.
Orders, Shipping & Returns
What is your return policy?
We offer a 30-day return policy on all unused and unopened products. Items must be returned in their original condition and packaging for a full refund. Contact us before sending anything back so we can set up the return.
What if my order arrives damaged or a component doesn't power on?
Contact us right away with your order number and a photo/description of the issue. Most DOA (dead-on-arrival) claims are resolved with a fast replacement or refund — we don't require you to go through a lengthy manufacturer RMA process for straightforward cases.
Do you offer dealer, contractor, or utility/wholesale pricing?
Yes, for qualified contractors, electrical utilities, and dealers ordering in volume. Email us with your business details and typical order volume and we'll follow up with pricing.
Technical Support
Do you provide wiring diagrams or system design help?
Yes. For RV, marine, and off-grid solar systems we can provide a wiring diagram and parts list based on your battery bank, panel array, and load requirements — this is a free part of the buying process, not a paid service.
I'm getting inconsistent battery readings or state-of-charge numbers — what's wrong?
This is almost always a Smart Shunt or BMV placement/wiring issue — usually the shunt is on the wrong side of a parallel battery connection, or the synchronization ("full charge") voltage hasn't been set correctly for your battery chemistry. Send us your battery type, wiring layout, and a photo of your shunt installation and we can usually pinpoint the fix without a truck roll or return.
Who do I contact for questions not covered here?
Email Ryan (ryan@jonssontech.net) or Craig (craig@jonssontech.net) and we'll get back to you directly.
