Victron VE.Direct Cable — RJ12, for MPPT, SmartShunt, BMV & Orion XS to Cerbo GX
Couldn't load pickup availability
The cable that connects a VE.Direct device to your Cerbo GX. One cable per device — pick the length that matches the run between the two.
What needs one
- SmartSolar and BlueSolar MPPT charge controllers
- SmartShunt (all sizes, standard and IP65)
- BMV-700 / BMV-702 / BMV-712 battery monitors
- Orion XS DC-DC chargers
- Phoenix Inverter VE.Direct models
Each VE.Direct device needs its own cable — they do not daisy-chain. The Cerbo GX has three VE.Direct ports. If your system has a fourth VE.Direct device, you will also need a VE.Direct to USB interface to connect it through the Cerbo's USB port.
Choosing a length
Measure the actual route the cable will take — around corners, through gland plates and along trunking, not the straight-line distance. Add roughly 20% slack for strain relief and a service loop, then round up to the next length below.
- 0.3 m (1 ft) — device mounted directly beside the Cerbo
- 0.9 m (3 ft) — same panel or board
- 1.8 m (5.9 ft) — adjacent panel, most common choice
- 3 m (9.8 ft) — across a locker or compartment
- 5 m (16.4 ft) — different compartment
- 10 m (32.8 ft) — maximum length; longest run Victron supports on VE.Direct
Specifications
- Connectors: RJ12 (6P6C) straight, both ends
- Signal: VE.Direct serial, TTL level
- Maximum length: 10 m — do not extend or join VE.Direct cables
- Genuine Victron Energy part
VE.Direct cables are not interchangeable with RJ45 network cable. VE.Bus devices such as the MultiPlus and Quattro use RJ45 UTP cable instead.
