The Victron Cerbo GX is the brain of any serious Victron system — a centralized communication hub that connects all your Victron devices (MultiPlus, Quattro, SmartSolar MPPT, SmartShunt, BMV, BatteryProtect, etc.), aggregates their data, and exposes it via the VRM (Victron Remote Monitoring) portal, VictronConnect app, and optional GX Touch displays. The single piece that turns a collection of Victron devices into a coordinated system.
What the Cerbo GX does for you
- Connects everything — VE.Bus inverter/chargers, VE.Direct devices (MPPTs, SmartShunt, BMV), VE.Can devices (large MPPTs, RS series), USB peripherals
- VRM Portal access — monitor your system from anywhere in the world via Victron's cloud portal
- Push notifications — alarms for low battery, high temperature, grid loss, etc.
- Historical data — stores months of solar production, battery cycles, AC consumption
- Generator auto-start — with appropriate hardware, automate generator runs based on SoC
- ESS mode — enables grid-tied energy storage system features on MultiPlus-II
- 3rd-party integration — NMEA 2000 for marine plotters, ModBus for industrial
- Tank monitoring — with GX Tank 140 accessory (sold separately)
- Temperature sensors — multiple battery temperature monitoring
- GX Touch ready — plug in a GX Touch 50 or 70 for local display
Cerbo GX vs Cerbo GX MK2 — which one?
Victron offers two versions of the Cerbo GX:
| Cerbo GX (this product) | Cerbo GX MK2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Processor | Original (sufficient for most systems) | Faster, more RAM |
| Wi-Fi / Bluetooth | Yes | Yes (better radio) |
| Future-proofing | Supported, but MK2 is newer | Latest hardware, longer software lifespan |
| Best for | Standard residential, marine, RV builds | Larger commercial, complex systems, future expansion |
| Price | $317.05 | ~$393 |
Choose the original Cerbo GX if: you have a standard residential, RV, or marine system with up to ~5–6 connected Victron devices and modest data needs. Saves about $75 vs the MK2.
Choose the Cerbo GX MK2 if: you have a larger commercial or multi-inverter system, you want future expansion headroom, or you're future-proofing the hardware.
