The Victron BlueSolar MPPT 100/30 is the budget, non-Bluetooth predecessor of the popular SmartSolar 100/30 — same 30A charge current, same 100V max PV input, same Victron MPPT tracking algorithm, but without built-in Bluetooth. Connects to monitoring devices via VE.Direct port only. A solid choice if you're using a Cerbo GX (or other GX device) as your central monitor, or if you simply don't need wireless phone monitoring.

Choose BlueSolar if: you have a Cerbo GX (or other GX monitor) and don't need phone-based monitoring, or you want to save the $23 and add an external VE.Direct Bluetooth dongle (~$50) later only if needed.

Choose SmartSolar if: you want VictronConnect on your phone out of the box and the ability to network with other Victron Smart devices (SmartShunt, IP22 chargers).

Solar array sizing

Battery bank Maximum solar array Typical setup
12V ~440W 2× 200W panels in series, or 4× 100W
24V ~880W 4× 200W panels (series-parallel)

Maximum PV open-circuit voltage: 100V.

Why the BlueSolar 100/30

  • Same MPPT hardware as SmartSolar — same ultra-fast tracking algorithm, same 98% efficiency, same charge profiles
  • VE.Direct port for Cerbo GX — full system monitoring via VRM Portal still works perfectly
  • Lower cost — ~$23 less than the SmartSolar version
  • Multi-stage adaptive charging — AGM, Gel, Flooded, LiFePO4 profiles configurable
  • Automatic 12V / 24V detection — installs on either bank
  • Optional VictronConnect — add a VE.Direct Bluetooth Smart dongle (sold separately) to get phone monitoring later if needed
  • Built-in protection — battery reverse polarity, output short-circuit, over-temperature, PV reverse polarity

Recommended applications

  • Off-grid cabin with Cerbo GX — central GX monitor handles all viewing, no need for phone connection
  • Budget RV / Van builds — save on the controller, monitor via VE.Direct cable to a separate display
  • Commercial / telecom — system monitored remotely via VRM through a Cerbo GX
  • Replacement / spare — same hardware as the SmartSolar; if you have an existing BlueSolar install, this is the right replacement
  • Marine — sailboat or trawler with central GX monitoring
