The Victron Autotransformer 120/240V-32A converts a single-phase 120V source into balanced split-phase 120V/240V — useful when your MultiPlus inverter outputs single-phase 120V but you have a 240V appliance (well pump, water heater, dryer) or a 50A split-phase shore power connection that needs to be balanced. Also balances loads between two 120V legs to prevent neutral current overload.
What it does
- Splits 120V to 120/240V — take a single 120V output and create a center-tapped 240V output
- Balances split-phase loads — evens out current between two 120V legs
- Boost or buck 120V — configurable to step up undervoltage or step down overvoltage
- Eliminates the need for a 2x120V MultiPlus-II — use a single-phase MultiPlus 12/2000 with an autotransformer instead of upgrading to the more expensive split-phase MultiPlus-II
When you need a 120/240V autotransformer
- RV with 50A shore power but single-phase MultiPlus — distribute 50A shore between two 120V legs
- Off-grid home with 240V well pump — power a 240V pump from a single-phase inverter
- Marine 240V appliances — dryer, water heater, AC unit on a single-phase inverter
