Mounting

A weatherproof entry point for running two solar or DC cables through an RV, van, trailer or boat roof or wall. The sloped hood covers the penetration, and two real M16 cable glands seal around each cable, so water stays out and the cables are strain-relieved.

Designed and printed in Texas by Jonsson Tech, a Victron Energy authorized dealer and RV/marine electrical installer, from black ASA: UV-stable and holds its shape in direct summer sun on a dark roof.

Choose your mounting

  • Screw Mount: four countersunk holes for #8 / M4 stainless screws, used together with a bead of sealant. Best for metal and wood surfaces you can drill.
  • Adhesive Mount (No Holes): a solid flange with no screw holes, for bonding with Sikaflex 221, 3M 4000UV or similar. Best where you don't want extra holes in the roof.

Both versions have a shallow recess on the underside that holds a full, even layer of sealant.

Features

  • Two M16 × 1.5 nylon IP68 cable glands included, with locknuts
  • Generous interior for easy cable routing and locknut tightening
  • Fits 10 AWG and 8 AWG solar PV wire (gland clamping range approx. 4–8 mm; 5–10 mm glands available on request)
  • Low sloped profile sheds water and is less likely to catch on branches

Specifications

  • Footprint: 132 × 95 mm (5.2 × 3.7 in)
  • Height at gland end: 37.5 mm (1.5 in)
  • Gland spacing: 28.6 mm centre to centre
  • Material: ASA (black)

Installation tips

  • Fit the glands and locknuts before mounting; the nuts can't be reached afterwards.
  • Connectors such as MC4 won't pass through an M16 gland. Thread the bare cable through, then crimp the connector.
  • Scuff the mounting surface and clean with isopropyl alcohol before applying sealant.
  • For the adhesive version, press down until sealant squeezes out around the edge, and tape it in place for 24 hours while it cures.
