VRM Setup Guide

Follow these 5 steps to get your Victron system visible on VRM — so you can check your battery, solar, and loads from anywhere in the world.

What is VRM?

VRM (Victron Remote Management) is Victron’s free cloud monitoring platform. Once your Cerbo GX is connected to the internet and linked to a VRM account, you can see real-time battery state of charge, solar production, AC load, generator status, and historical trends — from any phone, tablet, or browser. It’s also where JonssonTech can remotely assist if you’re ever stuck on a configuration.

Create Your Free VRM Account

Go to vrm.victronenergy.com and click “Register”. Enter your email address and create a password. Check your inbox and click the confirmation link — you’ll need a confirmed account before you can add an installation.

Connect Your Cerbo GX to the Internet

Your Cerbo GX needs internet access to talk to VRM. The fastest option is an Ethernet cable from the Cerbo to your router. For WiFi, plug a compatible USB WiFi adapter into the Cerbo’s USB port, then go to Settings → WiFi on the Cerbo touchscreen and enter your network credentials.

No router nearby? A 4G/LTE USB stick works too — the Cerbo GX supports most major mobile data adapters. Victron also makes the GX LTE 4G modem that plugs directly into the Cerbo.

Find Your Cerbo GX Portal ID

On the Cerbo GX touchscreen, go to Settings → VRM Online Portal → VRM Portal ID. This is a 12-character code that uniquely identifies your unit (e.g., a1b2c3d4e5f6). Write it down or take a photo — you’ll need it in the next step.

Also on the sticker: The Portal ID is printed on the label on the bottom of the Cerbo GX unit.

Add Your Installation to VRM

Log in to VRM and click “Add a site” (or the + button on mobile). Enter your Portal ID when prompted. Give your installation a name (e.g., “Ryan’s Van” or “Lake Cabin”) and set your location and time zone. Click Save.

Within a minute or two, your Cerbo GX will appear online and you’ll see live data from your system.

Download the VRM App

Get the free VRM app for iOS or Android for the best mobile experience. You can view your dashboard, set up alerts (low battery, high temperature, generator fault), and share your installation with JonssonTech for remote support — all from your phone.

Set up alerts now: In VRM, go to your installation → Alarm Settings and enable a “Battery low” alert at 20% SOC. You’ll get an email or push notification before you’re ever stranded with a dead bank.

You’re online!

Your system is now visible on VRM. You can check battery state, solar production, and load from anywhere — and we can remotely assist with configuration if you ever need it.
