The Victron Smart BatteryProtect 12/24V-65A is the simplest, most reliable way to protect your battery bank from over-discharge damage — a smart, programmable low-voltage disconnect that automatically cuts power to non-essential loads when your battery drops below a safe threshold. Built-in Bluetooth lets you monitor and configure from your phone via VictronConnect.
Why you need a BatteryProtect
Deep-discharging a battery is the #1 cause of premature failure. AGM, gel, and lead-acid batteries are damaged by repeated discharges below 50%; LiFePO4 batteries have a strict low-voltage cutoff that, if exceeded, can permanently disable the BMS.
A BatteryProtect automatically disconnects non-essential loads (fridge, lights, inverter) before damage occurs — while keeping critical loads (bilge pump, alarm, communications) on a separate circuit if you want.
How it works
- Battery voltage drops below threshold (configurable per battery chemistry)
- BatteryProtect waits the configured delay (default 90 seconds — prevents nuisance trips from inrush current)
- Disconnects loads with a hard contact (silent, instant, no relay clicking)
- Reconnects automatically when battery voltage recovers above the reconnect threshold
- Sends Bluetooth alert so you know it happened
Why the Smart BatteryProtect 65A
- 65A load capacity — sized for typical RV/marine house circuit (12V) or moderate 24V load
- Works on 12V or 24V — auto-detects the system voltage
- Built-in Bluetooth — configure thresholds, view stats, get alerts via VictronConnect
- Programmable thresholds — set the right cutoff for your battery chemistry (AGM, Gel, Flooded, LiFePO4)
- VE.Smart Networking — takes voltage data directly from a SmartShunt or BMV for precise control
- No voltage drop — solid-state design, no current limit, no heat issues at full load
- Compact form — fits in small wiring spaces
- 5-year warranty

Recommended applications
- RV house circuit — protect house bank from leaving loads on after disconnect
- Marine non-critical loads — fridge, lights, audio (keep bilge pump on a separate circuit)
- Off-grid cabin — prevent battery damage during extended unattended absence
- Lithium battery protection — critical for LiFePO4 banks to prevent BMS damage
- Storage / winter — automatic disconnect prevents parasitic draws killing the battery
- Trolling motors — protect from over-discharge during a long fishing day
Which size do I need?
| Model | Load capacity | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| BatteryProtect 65A | 65A | Typical 12V house circuit |
| BatteryProtect 100A | 100A | Larger 12V house, smaller 24V inverter circuit |
| BatteryProtect 220A | 220A | Large 12V inverter, multi-load circuit |
| BatteryProtect 48V-100A | 100A @ 48V | 48V residential ESS, telecom |
Sizing rule: pick the BatteryProtect size to match (or exceed) your maximum simultaneous load current. For a circuit with a 2000W 12V inverter, that's ~170A peak — you need the 220A. For a typical RV house circuit with lights, fridge, fans, the 65A is plenty.
